Field Trip Part 3 - Wilfords at Jump Creek

For another adventures we headed to Jump Creek with the Wilfords.  We had a short, pleasant, little hike to a wonderful waterfall.

The water felt so nice we all ended up wet (except Kate).
Luke, Andrew, and Abby swam all the way across and enjoyed the falls and found some crawdads.
Lily didn't have her suit but that didn't stop her.
Kate enjoyed the shade of a large cave and helped with the littles when they weren't in the water.
These two always have fun together.
Shoes were a must with all the rocks.  Lily got pretty deep in the water and loved stomping her feet.
We had a lot of fun on the hike back by walking down the river instead of on the trail.  The kids found fish and had a lot of fun climbing on the rocks.  This field trip was a big success.  In fact, a few months later Lily asked when we were going back there.

Summer Field Trips Part 2 - The Wilfords

While the boys were on High Adventure we headed to Boise with the Wilfords.  We took in a quick tour of the capital building.  The Wilfords had been the week before and loved being our guides.

Our main destination for the field trip was Freak Alley Gallery.  It is an alley down town covered with paintings of all styles.  It was pretty amazing but some of the artwork was a little weird and/or grotesque.  Kate was really uncomfortable with the art and the weather was painfully hot.  So the main destination was a bit of a flop since most of the kids whined though the whole thing; at least it was free.
Here was one that everyone thought was pretty cool.
From there we headed to Julia Davis Park to cool off in the water fountain.  Kate was still grumpy so Lily wore Kate's swim top and got nice and wet.

Beautiful Utah

Natali headed to Provo for a week at EFY so the rest of us spent the week playing.  We went to Thanksgiving Point with the Castletons.

The kids loved digging for dinosaur bones and learning about fossils.

Mack and Andrew couldn't believe how long the little girls could spend in the little pretend town at the Curiosity Museum.  Magicians and Veterinarians hard at work.

The Petersens took us to some cool splash pads and playgrounds, the zoo, and swimming at a cousins house.  Lily loved their pool and made huge progress on her swimming.  We spend the evening of the 4th of July at the Real soccer game.

The game was so loud Lily and Emily tied their sweatshirts around their ears to block out the noise.  We all had a blast at the game and enjoyed the fireworks after wards.  Real scored three goals so all tickets were good for free haircuts at Great Clips.  The next day everyone got a much needed trim.  Not a bad deal.

We spent most of the week just enjoying the Peteresen's company and watching a lot of World Cup Soccer games.  We missed most of the knockout games while we were in Alaska so the boys made World Cup a priority in Utah.

We met the Pierce's up at The Weber where the kids played in the river and reservoir, went four wheeling and just hung out.  It was beautiful.  Then we headed back to Provo, visited Grandma Lula and stayed the night with Uncle Len.  The boys were awed by his muscles and strength.  He even taught Mack a few tips for his evening strengthening routine.  We picked Natali up Saturday morning bright and early and headed home.  It was a wonderful week.
