3rd Grader - Ruby Bridges, Watershed and Summer

This little miss is growing up so fast.  The 3rd graders did a was museum at school and Lily choose to be Ruby Bridges.  She ready a lot about her and planned out the perfect outfit - especially the braids (I wish she would let me braid everyday!)

Here is her whole class decked out in their costumes.

She recited her information as if she was Ruby to all the parents, teachers, and students that came to the exibit.  Lily wowed everyone with her memorized info and ability to talk comfortably with everyone who came through.  It was so fun.

I was lucky and got to go with her class to the Boise Watershed for her field trip.  It was fun to hang out with her and her buddies.

First day out of school and she got sunburned jumping on the tramp with a hose at a friends house (I totally forgot about sunscreen)- summer here we come!

 

Graduation

Well Mack had pretty low expectations for graduation- no party, no special dinner, no family or friends just walking across the stage while his name was called.  But we were trilled to be there - he was ready to be done with High School.  Now on to the next thing...not sure what that is yet but he'll do great at whatever he decides to do.

He was not excited to put that hat on over his hair - I tried finagle something that wouldn't make him look bald but in the end he just pulled it over those curls.  So when the hats flew, his hair was released in all its frizzy glory.  

Grandma and Grandpa made sure to be home in time for graduation, the third they attended that month, so glad they could make it.

Greg was using portrait mode on his phone and didn't realize all the pics had this lovley haze over them.  I got some clear pictures from Grandpa but the rest are a bit overexposed but I love the smiles on these silly boy's faces.  Glad that Mack has had so much fun with his friends.

We love this boy and are so excited to see what he does next.

Some Firsts and Lasts for Mack

One of Mack's last mutual activities was senior night.  The parents had tried to answer questions the way their grad would answer then the senior would tell their real answers.  It was pretty funny; Greg and I didn't know many answers so we just made up silly answers.  We weren't the only clueless parents.

Mack's first time coaching a soccer team.  He did the coaching and I managed the details.  We actually had a lot of fun and Lily loved having Mack as her coach.

Last choir concert was a little sad - choir has been such a good thing in Mack's high school experience.  It was also Mr. Child's last concert so it was pretty sad for all the choir kids.

The first time (maybe) that Mack did a middle part.  I couldn't help but post it; it makes me giggle every time.

Snow White

For production this year Pivotal did Snow White.  Kate was Sneezy and a Wood Nymph, Emily was Grumpy and a Wood Nymph and Lily was a fairy.

It was really beautiful.  This is their Wood Nymph part. Kate in front and Emmy right behind her.  They danced beautifully even if the leafy crowns left glitter in their hair for a week.

It is hard to catch dance in pictures but he is Lily leading the way on the far left.  Is was so fun to watch.

But the best part by far were the dwarfs.  When Emmy was cast as Grumpy she was so sure it was an insult.  I had to convince her that Miss Heidi had faith that Emily could "act" grumpy.  And she stole the show with her grouchy looks and attitude.

Kate's sneezing blew us away. 🙄

Everyone was laughing by the time Grump ended up in the bucket for her bath.

Grandma and Grandpa Dame drove in from their winter in Arizona just in time for the girls last show.

The hours of practice paid off - the show was incredible.  I enjoyed my annual sewing projects for Miss Heidi as well - not as impressive as what the girls do but it is fun to do my part.

Andrew Bday

Andrew wanted a DQ ice cream cake for his Birthday.  He likes the basic flavor so I decided not to pre order but just go pick up what they had the day of his birthday.  That didn't work out too great - the only cakes they had were cookie dough flavored except this gigantic Mother's Day cake.  I figured Andrew would  laugh about it and would be thrilled to have a bigger cake.  How many 17 year olds get Mother's Day cakes 😂. I also got a 5% discount so I wasn't complaing but I think I will order ahead of time next year.

 Can't beleive this crazy long haired boy is 17 already!  Time goes too fast.  I remember when he used to leave the house everyday with his pants on backwards and a plan in his head about how he could skip school.  Now he has straight A's, has started to care about his clothes and will be a Senior next year !  Love that kid and his energy adn passion for life.
