Italy - Denver and Milan

Well Greg wrote over 20 pages about our trip to Italy.  I was tempted to just copy and paste it all here, but in the end I figure this is my record so I'd better own it.

Our trip started out rocky- I had been sick for over a week and was so worried that one of the kids was going to start in with my cold right before we left.  Mack woke up Thursday with a runny nose 🤦🏽‍♀️  then things just got worse with our first flight out of Boise delayed because of storms in Denver.  The girls were sent on their way to Arizona to soak up the sun with Gma, Gpa, and the Castletons and we flew on to Denver, missing our flight to Frankfurt.  We spent our first night in a hotel in Denver, our bellies full from the dinner bought with United vouchers.  Mack was out by 9 doped up on the preventative drugs I'd brought.  It was a bummer to miss our first day in Milan and seeing the Last Supper but I think that good nights sleep was super helpful for me to get over my cold and Mack to fight his off.

The next morning we headed to the airport, used more vouchers for breakfast and were finally on our way to Italy.

Milan didn't disappoint.  We were pretty tired and definitely awkward pulling our suitcases around town but the Duomo and the plaza were incredible.  The stain glass on the church was so beautiful and we wished we could go in, but our bad luck had come with us and we had missed the church hours by 30 mins.

We dropped our bags off at our Air B&B then found a restaurant and had our first pizza of the trip before we headed to the soccer game.
The subway ride was packed full of fans, lots of pushing and stress but we finally made it into the stadium.

The game was fun to watch, lively, but not overwhelming.  I had to do some tricky maneuvers to get to the girls bathroom- climbing over walls to get around food lines. But overall it was really fun.  The game ended in a disapointing tie as we dragged ourselves back to the subway.  By now we were thoroughly exhausted so we needed a cup of gelato (our first of many) to help us get to our place.

We turned the couches into beds for the boys ( Mack got the only blanket.  Andrew had to sleep with towels for blankets.  I don't think he would recomend it.) and I climbed into my bed and was out in minutes.  Greg said the streets were so loud that night but my earplugs saved me and I didn't hear a thing.  So 50% of our group slept great that night 😉.
