Early the next morning we put on our warmest clothes, doped up on Dramamine and took a lovely drive to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula for our whale watching tour. I was worried I would be cold so I was relieved when they zipped us into these insulated suits.

Andrew came in clutch and spotted some white beaked dolphins early into our journey. We got to watch them jump and play all around the boat.
I did manage to wake up during the last 45 minutes to see the humpback whale and enjoy the last few minutes headed back to shore. Two new species for me, Kate and Lily, and one new one for the others. The three hours didn't seem too long because our sightings were spaced out so far and the minke whale stuck around for so long.
From the boat we drove out to the Malaria Lighthouse where we had heard there was a pair of articles foxes living. As we drove we tried to watch for foxes but everyone but Greg was so sleepy from the dramamine that we slept most of the way there.

Greg and Andrew got out to explore but the rest of us did some serious napping. From the boat we drove out to the Malaria Lighthouse where we had heard there was a pair of articles foxes living. As we drove we tried to watch for foxes but everyone but Greg was so sleepy from the dramamine that we slept most of the way there.

I finally forced myself up and got out to explore. The scenery and coastline were beautiful and there were signs of foxes - scat, fur and the sign that said, "don't feed the fox", but inspire of the evidence we didn't find any foxes.
Eventually Emily joined me and we wandered more, but no luck. Our fox hunt ended empty handed.
We wanted to stop and see the fissure volcano erupting near Reykjavik but had run out of time. On our drive to the hotel we told the kids the volcano is somewhere out of the left side of the car. They scanned the landscape and shocked us all then they said they could see lava. Sure enough, the sprays were large enough for us to see them several miles off the road. Iceland is crazy!
We even finished off all the squashes at the airport the next morning.
Interesting Facts:
Icelandic Horses have a 5th gait that makes them unique from other horses.
There are no mosquitoes in Iceland.
Iceland is the only foreign country Greg has been to where the hotels didn't ask to see your passport.
